Menthol Ban

Why are menthol cigarettes being banned in the UK?

Menthol cigarettes are due to be banned in the UK on 20th May 2020. The EU Tobacco Products Directive will restrict the sale of all cigarettes with a “characterising flavour”. As menthol is typically the most common type of flavoured cigarette, the directive has been dubbed the “menthol ban”.

Heated tobacco is exempt from the ban and so HEETS Turquoise and HEETS Blue will still be available to purchase both online and in stores.

Why ban menthol cigarettes?

The EU is placing restrictions on flavoured cigarettes as part of a wider campaign to discourage people from taking up smoking.

Alternative to menthol cigarettes

HEETS variants Turquoise and Blue are the only mentholated tobacco product which will still be available to buy after 20th May 2020.
