Some types of e-cigarettes allow users to alter the wattage (power) of the device to achieve different vaping experiences. If you’re new to vaping, you might be wondering what wattage to vape at, how to find the best wattage for vaping on your device, or whether vape wattage really matters? Read on to find out about another alternative to smoking which you might prefer.
Why alter vape wattage?
Altering the vape wattage on your device until you get the vapour, flavour and throat hit just right can help to improve the overall vaping experience. But not every vape is designed to allow the user to adjust wattage.
What is the best wattage for vaping?
There is no one-size-fits all optimum wattage when it comes to vaping. It’s down to the user to find the wattage they like best. This can require lots of adjusting and experimenting with the vape device until the desired result is achieved – and can mean lots of learning experiences along the way!
Vape users can use Ohm’s Law to calculate the optimum wattage, amps, ohms and volts of their device. The chart below outlines how to use Ohm’s Law in practice. There are 4 different variables at use here:
- Wattage (P)
The measure of the amount of power an electronic cigarette uses.
- Amps (I)
The measure of the current.
- Ohms (R)
The unit of resistance.
- Volts (E)
The measure of the voltage.
In the chart below, find the value that you wish to calculate using one of the 4 middle segments, then within this quarter of the chart you can find the relevant calculation to calculate your wanted variable using other variables that you have. For instance, I = P/E.
Is there an easier method than a vape wattage chart?
There are many vape wattage calculators available online which claim to show the optimum wattage for different devices. But if you’re finding vape wattage calculating too complicated and confusing, there are other alternatives to smoking which don’t require any adjustments or modifications. There are easier to use vaping products, such as ‘pod-based systems’ on the market.
Pod vape systems are comprised of two components – there's a pod filled with vape juice and a small battery to which this is inserted to. Pods can be available in either pre-filled designs or can be refillable. A lot of these pod based systems simply snap into place and are ready to go, without needing to worry about vape wattage.
Another alternative that requires no such modifications or changes to wattage is Heated Tobacco. Heated tobacco is another category of products which are a better alternative to smoking, these devices heat tobacco rather than burning it to produce a nicotine containing vapour.
A simpler alternative to smoking
And when it comes to Heated Tobacco, IQOS is the market leading product*. IQOS heats tobacco instead of burning it to deliver the taste and satisfaction of real tobacco, but emitting 95% less harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.** IQOS heats the tobacco using patented heat control technology – the tobacco is heated to a regulated temperature automatically so there’s no need to worry about setting wattage either before or during usage.
IQOS is a better alternative than continuing to smoke. It’s easy to use and closer to the experience you already know. Simply insert a tobacco stick into the device and enjoy the real taste of tobacco. Every day, thousands of adult smokers around the world stop burning tobacco and start heating it with IQOS***.
